RTNDA Opposes FCC's New Disclosure Order

RTNDA has joined a coalition of broadcast station owners and media organizations to protest the FCC's Enhanced Disclosure Order. The rules adopted in the order would require television stations to compile and provide to the FCC extraordinarily detailed information about programming, as well as particulars about how the station ascertained the needs of its community and made programming decisions accordingly.

Fight for Federal Shield Law Rages On

U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey wrote in a USA Today editorial on April 17 that there is no need for a federal shield law like the one being considered by Congress. On May 5, Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) countered in the Washington Post. RTNDA is a member of a coalition of 40 media companies and journalistic organizations that advocate a federal shield law; read the association’s position in president Barbara Cochran’s column in the April issue of Communicator.
